The Goblins of No-Kan-Dar appear as a split race and many Confrontation players will find themselves choosing from one aspect of the Goblins. You have the pirates and their forces of marauding goblin hordes as well as the forces of Klune with their Militia and Strohm bodyguards, in addition you also have the mutant hordes and twisted gobbo freaks. Just as well that the goblin nation is so diverse and contains thousands of tribes. This really gives players the chance to individualise their forces - from one warrior tribe or a raiding party of pirates and allies it doesn't - matter the goblins are flexible.
Izothop rules as master of the city of Klûne, but from the plateaux of No-Dan-Kar the Goblins have spread to the furthest corners of Aarklash. They are hundreds of thousands, divided into just as many tribes. You can be sure that three quarters of them have never even heard of the Emperor Izothop.
A Goblins life expectancy is, thankfully, generally very short. It is said that when an army of No-Dan-Kar leaves Klûne to go south, it is a new generation of warriors that actually fights the battle on arrival. Because of this many tribes have long lost contact with those of the north and dozens of Goblin chiefs call themselves emperors, even if they only have a few hundred fighters at their command. Yet, notwithstanding this lack of cohesion, only a fool would underestimate the Goblin threat. For now their incursions are limited to the pillaging of remote villages, but the day will come when they reunite around the Faithful of their god. And then the world will discover the real power of the Tide of the Rat.
Due to the fact that the goblin nation is so split and their warriors so diverse it is difficult to say exactly where the strengths and weaknesses of the goblins lie. They're cheap enough in points cost so you can certainly outnumber your enemy whatever aspect you choose, basic warriors include the goblin mutants, militia of klune, archers, marauders and pirates all of which are low cost troops -and there are plenty to choose from.
The harder hitting troops are where you really start to define your army, if you have pirates then you want to back them up with a black troll (complete with anchor and human arm to beat people to death with) you can also easily include strohm bodyguards to add some much needed hitting power to your forces. It would be easy to envisage a goblin pirate force that also carry's a hold full of troops i the form of Marauders. it's definitely worth combining the higher skills of the pirates with a swarm of marauders to swamp your enemy. Not only that but the pirates are quite shooty and the goblin archers are the perfect cheap rout to a hail of arrows. (although the sharpshooters will be a must when they are released inthe UK)
If your looking to include the twisted forces of mutants then Gortez is a must - he's a obese cross between a goblin and a troll and can do (and take) a hell of a lot of damage. You can also choose to include the likes of Cyanhur, a goblin assassin as he looks suitably mutated. Combine these with the hideous Psychomutants to hurl spells at your enemies and you're starting to create a force to be reckoned with.

In addition any goblin factoin could include a war troll, this nasty beastie will do plenty of damage and also get your opponent to focus on this huge armoured green thingy smashing it's way through their troops. This may allow your weaker troops to close and swarm their defences.
A standard Goblin army will more than likely include plenty of warriors, archers, maruaders and militia as the basic troops you can easly add a blister of all of these for less than 50 points. The standard goblin army is where you want to place the specialists like gas-blowers and lunatics with ball and chains. These can really whittle down the enemy troops with their built-in nastiness. You'll also need the obligitory war-troll no gobbo player should go to war without one!
In terms of characters the goblins have aplenty for all factions. Golborak could quite easily sit amongst the mutants, pirates or lead a private army into battle. Some characters such as Gortez have their place but would fit in well with any goblin raiding party.
