The WORLD of WARMACHINE
WAR MACHINET is set in the IRON KINGDOMST, an environment that combines the best of traditional fantasy with steam power and gunpowder. Across the realm, ancient rivalries among nations are about to explode into all-out conflict, setting the stage for WAR MACHINE and other IRON KINGDOMS products.

In WARMACHINET, the very earth shakes during fierce confrontations where six-ton constructs of tempered iron and steel slam into one another with the destructive force of a locomotive, where lead-spewing cannons chew through armour plating as easily as flesh, and where a tempest of arcane magics sets the battlefield ablaze with such Armageddon-like proportions that the gods themselves will fear to tread such tormented ground!

There are 3 Rulebooks for Warmachine: -

  • Prime This is the main rules for game-play and the foundantion of the warmachine game.
  • Escalation - introducing new rules, warcasters, troops and warjacks plus campaign play and tournament rules.
  • Apotheosis which brings new warcasters and warjacks, including a new type of Warcaster, more new rules, advanced campaigns and lots more. All these books also include loads of lavish artwork and photos of the fantastic miniatures.

The Basics (Warmachine Prime)
In WAR MACHINE, players take on the role of an elite soldier-sorcerer known as a "warcaster." While a warcaster is a formidable force on the battlefield, their true strength is in their ability to magically control and coordinate the actions of their mighty warjacks-steam-powered combat automatons that represent the pinnacle of military might in the IRON KINGDOMS.

Each warjack is a fifteen foot tall ironclad behemoth, a coal-fired engine of destruction with a primitive magical brain. On its own a warjack is capable of only the most rudimentary actions, but when bonded to a warcaster its efficiency and deadliness increase dramatically.

WAR MACHINE focuses on battles between warcasters and the titanic forces that they control. A match is fought with a warjack's thundering cannons, ripping iron claws and crushing hammer blows, as well as devastating spells wrought by the warcaster himself. When the dust settles, one side is victorious and the other is nothing but smoking scrap metal!

WARMACHINE: Escalation, out now, is a 240 page supplement to WARMACHINE, including stats and rules for dozens of new additions to WARMACHINE armies, storyline fiction, a campaign, and a full color feature from the renowned 3D department of Privateer Press.

WARMACHINE: Apotheosis introduces 4 new unique warjacks and 16 new warcasters, Apotheosis brings your game to the next level. This 144 page full-color expansion advances the WARMACHINE storyline and adds new warjacks and warcasters.

Apotheosis is bigger and bolder then anything you've experienced before.There is five new offerings for each faction. Each faction will get... Two new, never seen before warcasters, One HUGE unique warjack, two EPIC warcasters and lots of new never seen before model abilities, such and incorporeal and jack marshal. There is also a new rule called 'Warjack Bonding'. Bonding is a casual or campaign play set of rules that focuses on warjacks that survive repeat battles under the control of the same warcaster. Over time, they start to develop personality quirks and behaviors, while at the same time becoming more efficient tools of their master warcaster.
